· Duck Tape Mummies

Mike Dorn was born Christmas day, 1948 in Detroit, MI. Raised in Madison Heights, MI until the age of 16 when he moved to California to live with an Aunt. Completing High School in North Highlands, CA 1967, he attended college in Sacramento, CA where obtained an Associates degree. Moving back to Michigan in 1979, Mike started working in tool shops around the Detroit area.
Playing the acoustic venues of the Metro Detroit area Mike has built up a following. His music is largely an irreverent look at suburban life with no holds barred and not punches held. Over the last decade Mike has played in several bands, but is usually found solo banging on his acoustic guitar and inciting the audience to sing along to his addicting lyrics.
His own band, The Duck Tape Mummies, features Mike's rock-n-roll roots. The Duck Tape Mummies formed in Ferndale, Michigan mid nineties. Mike Dorn was already doing shows with me on bass. We added Adam Thomson on lead guitar and he could'nt get his guitar to play quietly so we decided to get LOUD. Greg Hills joined us on drums and the LEGEND began!
There were riots in the streets. The police were called. Beer was drunk drank. Strange poetry eminated through smokey bars and hypercaffeinated cafes. Toasters were smashed! Government files were opened. The smiley guy was the GRINAGOGUE of our dreams. Mike broke a thumbnail. I think it all ended because we could'nt find a parking space and Adam had to watch buildings getting blown up in Detroit vis-a-vis Maynard G. Krebbs.
To Mike's credit:
- Winner of various poetry slams around Detroit, including Lollapalooza in 1994.
- Selected to compete nationally in 1997 as part of the Detroit poetry slam team.
- Winner of the Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Acoustic Folk Singer/Sonwriter in 1999.

· The Mantons

In 2004 Mike Anton put his first ever band together with drummer Mike Welby. They became “Mike Anton & The Mantons”. Mike wanted the name to be printed in only Copperplate Gothic Bold type. But, “That font is like $25. I ain’t paying $25 for a font,” says Anton.
Since then The Mantons have played consistently throughout Detroit. They’ve had a few bass players, but the one constant is the two founding members. One of the first bass players to play with The Mantons, Stephe Brown, left after just two early practices to pursue Jazz and Heavy Metal, but rejoined with glee just this year, in early Ought Nine. Stephe now plays keyboard for The Mantons, which is being incorporated into the band. Now on bass is Robin, who is a seasoned pro with Mike Dorn, a Detroit subculture legend.
But once a Manton, always a Manton. The bass player on their first record, “Squeeze The Fish”, is the venerable Dave Martin from Clay Adams Band. Dave and Anton have been friends for years, worked together as mechanics, and between the two of them have a deep sense of understanding not too often seen in this world. His influence courses through the veins of the songs they play.
Mike Anton has about 100 songs with four solo records; the band is rapidly assimilating them. There is room to grow, new songs to write, and The Mantons have demonstrated the tenacious fortitude it takes to stay together, sticking to the mantra of “Doing The Thing that Must Be Done”.
